Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop artist. He painted a giant Mickey Mouse comic one day after a challenge from his young son. Then he became interested in comics and the Benday dots that were used to print the colors and values. He began to paint large comic strips, using enlarged dots to color the image. After learning about him, 8th graders drew their own MIckey Mouses, coloring them and overlaying them with stenciled dots.
